How To Quit Smoking - What Is A Study In Smoking Control
Just for you smokers, a list on the ways to set your mind to the right place so that you make a very deliberate choice to stop smoking. This is really a resolution that if you think about what you are doing it just does not make any sense to continue with your smoking at all. By making a plan and following it and by knowing what you are going to get as a reward for stopping this habit you will motivate yourself and remind your own self even when you are tempted that the payoff is so much more for breaking the habit than to go on with behavior that is costing you dearly both financially and health wise.
I never thought I would be able to stop my smoking addiction. It seemed like I was always waiting until the pressure in my life was at a minimum to begin to stop and of course that just never seemed to happen. I used my smoking as an anxiety reliever and I just didn't know what to compensate it with. I was leery of gaining weight and it seemed like every time I stopped smoking or even attempted smoking control, I replaced my smoking with eating and as soon as I saw a weight increase over five pound I was once again smoking.
It wasn't effortless but I started some smoking control by replacing other activities and habits for times when I would usually smoke. When I decided that I had to quit the smoking habit I started with a list of pros and cons for my determination to smoke or to quit. Otherwise what I was getting out of smoking and then the cons to keeping my smoking habit. Of course the pros far outweighed the cons. The health and financial costs of a smoking addiction makes the decision to continue on one you cant really confirm in any sense except for the fact that as a smoker this is a habit that you get pleasure from.
After I made my list I hung this list up on my shower mirror and also on my refrigerator door. I wanted each day to see my reasons for changing my behavior this aided considerably since quitting smoking is a decision one has to establish day by day. The instant you stop smoking you have to foresee there will be times when you will slip but in the times past that I slipped, I just accepted failure and started smoking full steam ahead. This time if I backslid and bought a pack of cigarettes or smoked one I begged from a friend I allowed myself forgiveness for not being perfect and started right back up.
Once I saw the bathroom scales go up I made sure to exercise more and not to substitute eating with smoking. I also rewarded myself by pampering myself with a little something I usually wouldn't do for myself. Any time I pay attention to careful smoking control my cigarette use always goes down. I can't say that I don't think about smoking from time to time and probably always will but I also prompt myself that what you save is both health and money. Your clothes don't stink of smoke your hair does not reek of smoke and you can better enjoy the food you eat. You can also put the money you would have used for buying smokes into a bank account and watch it grow.
